The Item Upgrader in World of Warcraft
The War Within introduced Valorstones, and Harbinger Crests as two currencies for upgrading gear. These currencies can be exchanged at the item upgrader NPCs, Cuzolth and Vaskarn.
Each item can be upgraded up to its maximum level once for the slot. Afterward upgrades to the slot will be less costly. Additionally the pity system introduced with The War Within lowers extreme variation in the chance to upgrade.
